Junes Vineyard is a unique site with significant quantities of decomposed yellow limestone amongst the clay loam soils giving the wines an extra dimension of stony minerality on top of the ripe fruit and flowery aromas. Named after one of the owners of the winery, this site which was planted in 1999 continues to deliver exceptional Riesling, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. These make some of the most distinctive and terroir-rich wines in our portfolio. The goal every year with Junes Vineyard Chardonnay is to capture and celebrate the character of the vineyard and vintage in an unoaked wine. In order to accomplish this, the grapes are hand-picked at the peak of ripeness and the juice undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wines remain in contact this fine lees for 6 months before light filtration and bottling.
A lush example here with slightly exotic fruit including ripe yellow plum, apple and pineapple with some non-fruit savoury character in the background. The classic Junes minerality remains at the core boosted by fresh, but fine acidity.
Enjoy alone, lightly chilled or serve with roast herbed chicken, white fleshed fish with mushrooms, creamy pastas such as carbonara or alfredo and all manner of mild and medium cheeses.

“Such an interesting expression of unoaked Chardonnay from this personable, distinct vineyard. A nose of pear, apple and lovely wet stone minerality. There’s a creamy feel on the palate with apple and pear fruits bolstered by subtle notes of almond paste, stoney minerality and refreshing, mouth-watering acidity.”
