"The clean and clear 2013 cabernet-merlot from 13th Street shows lovely purity of fruit and an internationally-styled willingness to please. There is always some sort of underlying rusticity in leather and cedar notes but the extract, ease of pressing and beautiful phenolics are beyond alright. Winemaker J-P Colas gets it all right from out the cloud cover vintage. The acidity raves while the tannin already begins to wane. Just a touch of chocolate takes over from the ripe fruit with elastic rebound on the lengthy finish.Drink 2017-2021." Tasted February 2017.
This a slimmer cab-merlot from the cooler 2013 vintage in Niagara, but there is no lack of aromatic intensity, with complex blackcurrant, fresh herbs/dill, evergreen and well insinuated oak vanillin and toast. It's medium weight, quite even and finely tannined. A touch sour and green for some tastes perhaps, but very much alive, with very good to excellent length. A touch earthy and green on the finish. Tasted November 2016. Score - 89. (David Lawrason, winealign.com, Nov. 4, 2016
